May the LORD bless with eyes to see the Lamb of God, as Scripture sets Him forth, in all His glory, power and splendor!
Romans 9:13
"As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated."
We have yet to really understand the Holiness of God and thus His justice in condemning sinners. It's like one lady who asked the preacher one time, she said, "I just don't understand how it could be that God hated Esau," and the preacher responded, "I don't have any problem understanding how God hated Esau, the wonder to me is how He could have loved Jacob."
There is the wonder! And the wonder that I can even stand here, dear friends, and talk to you, in any measure, about the Glory of God in Christ. That's where His Glory is, in the person and work of His Son. It is in that death that He accomplished, on the cross at Calvary, to allow each one of His elect to be offered unto the LORD in a Clean Vessel. He is that Clean Vessel, that Lamb of God without spot or blemish: "But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a Lamb without blemish and without spot:" (1 Peter 1:19)
God has those sinners whom He chose to be "IN HIM," to be made righteous and just "IN HIM:" "According as He hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world," (Ephesians 1:4) "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus." (Romans 8:1)
God is sovereign, whether it's to save sinners or whether it's to damn them: "For I know their works and their thoughts." (Isaiah 66:18) That's interesting isn't it? Most people say, "God's going to weigh what we do and hopefully the good will outweigh the bad." Well, even if that were the only standard, you would be condemned. Any works of your own are nothing but filthy rags: "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags," (Isaiah 64:6) So, unless Christ has paid your sin debt, even your thoughts will be waiting for you on the day of condemnation. They can never be erased outside of Christ. But if you could look at the thoughts of one of the LORD's, the only ones that will be recorded are those pure and righteous, the Word!
Christ the Word, God's Glory!
"...the Glory of God in the Face of Jesus Christ."
(2 Corinthians 4:6)
